Bella came to Kapellan in November 1989 having been dumped on the busy A590 at Levens.
She was emaciated and shown signs of having recently given birth, she could barely walk. She made good progress and within one month was fit
and well.
Young Ruth McGill our trainee (now a mother of three) found a protective streak in Bella and suggested she remain at Kapellan as our
Mascot and Guard Dog.
Bella did remain and performed her function with great efficiency for eleven years.
At the the time of her demise we estimated she would have been fourteen years old.
She was much loved and is sorely missed. She really was very special....
She is pictured to the right with Betty Wainwright who who continued to support Kapellan until she died , (August 20th 2008, aged 86).
