We are thrilled to share with you the exciting news that, after many set-backs, we have finally found a new site for Animal Rescue Cumbria! We plan to make our new home at Higher Rowell Farm, where Milnthorpe Kennels and Cattery has operated for almost 20 years; we hope to complete the purchase of the new site before Christmas.
It will be a great pleasure to carry on the tradition of caring for cats and dogs at Milnthorpe, albeit that our main focus will be on rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming, in line with the Charity’s mission.
Some staff will work from our new site, to oversee renovation and building work over 2025. We plan to build a new, state-of-the art cattery and repurpose accommodation to create vet rooms, rehoming rooms, offices and an education centre. For the time being, the Wainwright Shelter will continue to operate as usual from Kapellan, at Grayrigg.
We feel very fortunate to have found a new home so close to Kendal and in the heart of our South Lakeland community who contribute so much to our work through volunteering, fundraising, and supporting our charity shop in Kendal. We look forward to sharing our plans for the Charity’s future at Higher Rowell.
